Because the spike is pointing the wrong way. In the same way, a mendicant whose mind is pointing the wrong way cannot break ignorance, produce knowledge, and realize extinguishment. Why is that? Because their mind is pointing the wrong way.”

ภิกษุทั้งหลาย เราย่อมไม่เล็งเห็นธรรมอื่นแม้อย่างหนึ่ง ที่ฝึกแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่เหมือนจิต ภิกษุทั้งหลาย จิตที่ฝึกแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่.
ภิกษุทั้งหลาย เราย่อมไม่เล็งเห็นธรรมอื่นแม้อย่างหนึ่ง ที่ไม่คุ้มครองแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อไม่ใช่ประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่เหมือนจิต ภิกษุทั้งหลาย จิตที่ไม่คุ้มครองแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อไม่ใช่ประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่.
ภิกษุทั้งหลาย เราย่อมไม่เล็งเห็นธรรมอื่นแม้อย่างหนึ่ง ที่คุ้มครองแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่เหมือนจิต ภิกษุทั้งหลาย จิตที่คุ้มครองแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่.
ภิกษุทั้งหลาย เราย่อมไม่เล็งเห็นธรรมอื่นแม้อย่างหนึ่ง ที่ไม่รักษาแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อไม่ใช่ประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่เหมือนจิต ภิกษุทั้งหลาย จิตที่ไม่รักษาแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อไม่ใช่ประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่.
ภิกษุทั้งหลาย เราย่อมไม่เล็งเห็นธรรมอื่นแม้อย่างหนึ่ง ที่รักษาแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่เหมือนจิต ภิกษุทั้งหลาย จิตที่รักษาแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่.
ภิกษุทั้งหลาย เราย่อมไม่เล็งเห็นธรรมอื่นแม้อย่างหนึ่ง ที่ไม่สังวรแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อไม่ใช่ประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่เหมือนจิต ภิกษุทั้งหลาย จิตที่ไม่สังวรแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อไม่ใช่ประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่.
ภิกษุทั้งหลาย เราย่อมไม่เล็งเห็นธรรมอื่นแม้อย่างหนึ่ง ที่สังวรแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่เหมือนจิต ภิกษุทั้งหลาย จิตที่สังวรแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่.
ภิกษุทั้งหลาย เราย่อมไม่เล็งเห็นธรรมอื่นแม้อย่างหนึ่ง ที่ไม่ฝึกแล้ว ไม่คุ้มครองแล้ว ไม่รักษาแล้ว ไม่สังวรแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อไม่ใช่ประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่เหมือนจิต ภิกษุทั้งหลาย จิตที่ไม่ฝึกแล้ว ไม่คุ้มครองแล้ว ไม่รักษาแล้ว ไม่สังวรแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อไม่ใช่ประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่.
ภิกษุทั้งหลาย เราย่อมไม่เล็งเห็นธรรมอื่นแม้อย่างหนึ่ง ที่ฝึกแล้ว คุ้มครองแล้ว รักษาแล้ว สังวรแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่เหมือนจิต ภิกษุทั้งหลาย จิตที่ฝึกแล้ว คุ้มครองแล้ว รักษาแล้ว สังวรแล้ว ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อประโยชน์อย่างใหญ่.
ภิกษุทั้งหลาย เปรียบเหมือนเดือยข้าวสาลีหรือเดือยข้าวเหนียว ที่บุคคลตั้งไว้ผิด มือหรือเท้าย่ำเหยียบแล้ว จะทำลายมือหรือเท้า หรือว่าจะทำให้ห้อเลือด ข้อนี้ไม่ใช่ฐานะที่จะมีได้ ข้อนั้นเพราะเหตุอะไร เพราะว่าเดือยข้าวนั้นเป็นสิ่งที่บุคคลตั้งไว้ผิด ภิกษุทั้งหลาย ฉันใดก็ฉันนั้น ภิกษุนั้นจะทำลายอวิชชา จะยังวิชชาให้เกิด จะทำนิพพานให้แจ้ง ด้วยจิตที่ตั้งไว้ผิด ข้อนี้ไม่ใช่ฐานะที่จะมีได้ ข้อนั้นเพราะเหตุอะไร เพราะเหตุว่าจิตตั้งไว้ผิด.
ภิกษุทั้งหลาย เปรียบเหมือนเดือยข้าวสาลีหรือเดือยข้าวเหนียว ที่บุคคลตั้งไว้ถูก มือหรือเท้าย่ำเหยียบแล้ว จะทำลายมือหรือเท้า หรือว่าจะทำให้ห้อเลือด ข้อนี้เป็นฐานะที่มีได้ ข้อนั้นเพราะเหตุอะไร เพราะว่าเดือยข้าวนั้นเป็นสิ่งที่บุคคลตั้งไว้ถูก ภิกษุทั้งหลาย ฉันใดก็ฉันนั้น ภิกษุนั้นจะทำลายอวิชชา จะยังวิชชาให้เกิด จะทำนิพพานให้แจ้ง ด้วยจิตที่ตั้งไว้ถูก ข้อนี้เป็นฐานะที่มีได้ ข้อนั้นเพราะเหตุอะไร เพราะเหตุว่าจิตตั้งไว้ถูก.
