“Mendicants, form is suffering. The cause and condition that gives rise to form is also suffering. Since form is produced by what is suffering, how could it be happiness?
Feeling is suffering …
Perception is suffering …
Choices are suffering …
Consciousness is suffering. The cause and condition that gives rise to consciousness is also suffering. Since consciousness is produced by what is suffering, how could it be happiness?
Seeing this … They understand: ‘… there is no return to any state of existence.’”

At Savatthi. “Bhikkhus, form is suffering. The cause and condition for the arising of form is also suffering. As form has originated from what is suffering, how could it be happiness?
“Feeling is suffering…. Perception is suffering…. Volitional formations are suffering…. Consciousness is suffering. The cause and condition for the arising of consciousness is also suffering. As consciousness has originated from what is suffering, how could it be happiness?
“Seeing thus … He understands: ‘… there is no more for this state of being.’”
ภิกษุทั้งหลาย รูปเป็นทุกข์ แม้เหตุปัจจัยที่ให้รูปเกิดขึ้น ก็เป็นทุกข์ รูปที่เกิดจากสิ่งที่เป็นทุกข์ จะเป็นสุขได้อย่างไร.
เวทนาเป็นทุกข์ แม้เหตุปัจจัยที่ให้เวทนาเกิดขึ้น ก็เป็นทุกข์ เวทนาที่เกิดจากสิ่งที่เป็นทุกข์ จะเป็นสุขได้อย่างไร.
สัญญาเป็นทุกข์ แม้เหตุปัจจัยที่ให้สัญญาเกิดขึ้น ก็เป็นทุกข์ สัญญาที่เกิดจากสิ่งที่เป็นทุกข์ จะเป็นสุขได้อย่างไร.
สังขารเป็นทุกข์ แม้เหตุปัจจัยที่ให้สังขารเกิดขึ้น ก็เป็นทุกข์ สังขารที่เกิดจากสิ่งที่เป็นทุกข์ จะเป็นสุขได้อย่างไร.
วิญญาณเป็นทุกข์ แม้เหตุปัจจัยที่ให้วิญญาณเกิดขึ้น ก็เป็นทุกข์ วิญญาณที่เกิดจากสิ่งที่เป็นทุกข์ จะเป็นสุขได้อย่างไร.
ภิกษุทั้งหลาย อริยสาวกผู้ได้สดับแล้ว เห็นอยู่อย่างนี้ ย่อมเบื่อหน่ายแม้ในรูป ย่อมเบื่อหน่ายแม้ในเวทนา ย่อมเบื่อหน่ายแม้ในสัญญา ย่อมเบื่อหน่ายแม้ในสังขาร ย่อมเบื่อหน่ายแม้ในวิญญาณ เมื่อเบื่อหน่าย ย่อมคลายกำหนัด เพราะคลายกำหนัด ย่อมหลุดพ้น เมื่อหลุดพ้นแล้ว ย่อมมีญาณหยั่งรู้ว่าหลุดพ้นแล้ว ย่อมรู้ชัดว่า ชาติสิ้นแล้ว พรหมจรรย์อยู่จบแล้ว กิจที่ควรทำได้ทำเสร็จแล้ว กิจอื่นที่จะต้องทำเพื่อความเป็นอย่างนี้มิได้มีอีก ดังนี้.
